About varsity.co.uk
“There is no real justice, because there is no punishment. And because there is no punishment, it just allows these things to keep happening. There’s no deterrent angle.” This is what a University of Cambridge student who was raped in her first year said to me. “I’m just hoping that what happened to me doesn’t have to repeat itself.” ‘Doesn’t have to’. When we find ourselves at a stage where rape survivors have to rely on hope for prevention, rather than on the system, it’s time to take a look at the system.
