Rolf Laven, born in 1966 in Jülich/Rhineland, Germany, is a German-Austrian visual artist, sculptor, art educator, curator, artistic researcher and university professor based in Vienna. He studied sculpture and art education at the Academies of Fine Arts in Maastricht/Netherlands and Vienna/Austria and earned his PhD with a dissertation on Franz Čižek (the Father of Art Education) and the pioneering Vienna Juvenile Art Class.
