About ncstatecapitol.org
Architectural historians internationally have acknowledged that the North Carolina State Capitol is a masterpiece of American architecture. The State Capitol Foundation has restored the furnishings of the building, including all of the original desks and dais, reconstructed chairs as needed and is in the process of conserving the artifacts, including statuary and plaques. Lighting has been added to the priceless portrait of George Washington by renowned American painter Thomas Sully. Gifts are most welcome in order to maintain this, our most important civic landmark.
