Chicago was the headline race of the weekend. 54,581 people finished, and the average time was 4:30:03. Amos Kipruto won the men’s race in 2:01:09, one of the fastest times ever run on the course. Only Kelvin Kiptum’s course record of 2:00:35 from 2023 is faster. Kipruto beat a deep field that included defending champion Jacob Kiplimo. He won by 1:47 over Tadese Bikila (2:02:56), and Milkesa Mengesha was third in 2:03:46. The women’s race was much closer. Hawi Feysa Gejia won her second straight Chicago title in 2:13:33, more than a minute faster than her winning time last year. Sharon Lokedi finished 34 seconds behind in 2:14:07, and Brigid Jepchirchir Kosgei was third in 2:14:55.
