On Dec. 1, 2024 — in a move to fully embody the Indigenous agency our organization champions — the Lakota People's Law Project separated from its original non-profit home at the Romero Institute and relocated to our new home as a program of the Sacred Defense Fund (SDF, EIN: 99-2707481). Our new organization, which is Indigenous-led from the top down, also supports sister programs dedicated to supporting Indigenous sovereignty, youth and elders, frontline movements, and Native artists.
