Photo by George Glessner showing Engine Company 42, taken shortly after completion of the firehouse in 1887. Located at 228 W. Illinois Street, the building was designated a Chicago landmark in 2007. The frame building in the background at 500 N. Franklin Street has housed the Gene and Georgetti Steakhouse for many years.
