About floridafarmworkers.org
The Farmworker Association of Florida (FWAF) was born out of necessity. In the early 1980s, a series of severe freezes wiped out much of Central Florida’s citrus crop. Unemployed farmworkers came together in Mascotte, Florida to organize for disaster unemployment assistance, and from that meeting, the Farmworker Association of Central Florida was established. FWAF was incorporated in 1986 and expanded statewide in 1992.
